On Demand Advisors, in partnership with ICUC, conducted an in-depth social media market survey to get a sense of the perceptions most prominently held about social media management. The questions were designed to both identify the shared pains experienced by marketing teams across industries, and discover what processes already exist to address the current needs of brands.
Nearly 100 companies participated in the survey. In 2005, this would have been a feat. Facebook was one year old, and Twitter didn’t even exist. One decade later, having a robust social media presence is mandatory for companies of all sizes and in all verticals.
While the industries represented here already speak to their consumers via social media, as we learned from our survey, achieving true engagement and social reciprocity can be time-consuming, difficult, and costly for firms to accomplish on their own.
The goal of the survey is to illuminate the true value and ROI of social media management for companies trying to main- tain a high level of engagement in their marketplace, and describe what an ideal solution can look like for those firms.
